Through the acquisition of the specialist clinic Nordiskt Centrum för Kirurgi in Linköping, also known as Nordiskt Centrum, Aleris is establishing itself in Östergötland. The clinic is well-established, with broad expertise and high accessibility. The acquisition is part of Aleris’s strategy to provide accessible, high-quality, and needs-based specialist healthcare across the country.
Nordiskt Centrum in Linköping offers specialist care in areas such as bariatric surgery, hernia surgery, gallbladder surgery, endoscopy, ear-nose-throat (ENT), pediatric surgery, endocrine surgery, gynecology, and plastic surgery. The clinic handles approximately 5,000 patient visits annually, serving patients on behalf of regional healthcare authorities, insurance companies, and self-paying individuals.
– Through this acquisition, we are strengthening our presence in Östergötland and gaining the opportunity to offer more patients care with high accessibility and medical quality. Nordiskt Centrum för Kirurgi has a strong local foundation and expertise that we look forward to further developing within Aleris, says Jens Eriksson, CEO of Aleris Sweden.
The clinic currently has contracts with six regions: Region Östergötland, Kronoberg, Norrbotten, Örebro County, Kalmar County, and Jönköping County. With Nordiskt Centrum now becoming part of Aleris, the relationships between Aleris and Region Östergötland as well as with all the other regions where the clinic operates will be further strengthened.
For patients, the acquisition means they will continue to meet the same skilled staff and have access to the same level of service they are used to. Through Aleris, they will also gain access to a broader range of healthcare services and, over time, may encounter a new name and new signage.
– We see great opportunities in becoming part of Aleris. With access to the group’s resources and development capacity, we can expand the range of our services and continue to provide our patients with high-quality, accessible care, says Christofer Grimås, senior consultant in surgery, CEO, and founder of Nordiskt Centrum för Kirurgi.
By joining Aleris, Nordiskt Centrum will have the opportunity to further develop and contribute to an even stronger healthcare offering in the region.
For Region Östergötland, this means patients will have access to Aleris’s combined expertise, capacity, and range of services. For healthcare staff, it creates opportunities for deeper collaboration in areas such as research, education, and digitalization.
Aleris and Region Östergötland have a long history of successful collaborations. For several years, Aleris operated the Motala Hospital. Another example is the cooperation with the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology at Linköping University Hospital, where Aleris managed to reduce the waiting time for sleep apnea patients from 18 months to three months in just four days.
The acquisition is subject to approval by relevant authorities.
