Aleris expands advanced cardiac offering with new ablation treatment
Aleris has further strengthened its cardiology services by introducing advanced ablation treatment for atrial fibrillation and other cardiac arrhythmias at its hospital in Copenhagen. The launch reinforces Aleris’ position as a leading private provider of high-quality specialist care in Denmark and the Nordic region.
Atrial fibrillation is the most common heart rhythm disorder in Denmark, affecting approximately 20,000 people annually. While demand for treatment continues to grow, many patients face long waits in the public system. With the addition of ablation treatment, Aleris offers fast-track access to a well-documented and effective procedure, carried out by a highly specialised team led by Consultant Cardiologist and PhD Jan Møller Nielsen.
Meeting growing demand through clinical excellence and accessibility
The ablation programme is available to patients without delay and features both PFA (pulsed field ablation) and RFA (radiofrequency ablation) – advanced techniques that stabilise heart rhythm in 80–90% of cases. Aleris is one of the few hospitals in Denmark to offer ablation under full anaesthesia, enhancing patient comfort and allowing for same-day discharge.
Treatment is available either directly at Aleris Heart Center in Copenhagen or via referral from a nationwide network of cardiologists, providing geographic flexibility and streamlined care pathways. Patients receive comprehensive follow-up during the first year to support recovery and long-term results.
Positioning for regional growth
Initially available to self-paying patients in Denmark, the offering will be extended in 2025 to include international patients, with a particular focus on Norway and the broader Nordic market. Aleris is investing in cross-border capabilities to support patient mobility and strengthen its role as a regional hub for advanced, high-quality cardiology services.
